Northeast Community Consortium Health Walk West Palm Beach
The Northwest Community Consortium, Inc. (NCCI), a group of churches, non-profits, civic associations and businesses dedicated to the revitalization and improvement of the Northwest Community of West Palm Beach held a Health Walk to honor Thomas R. Vickers, Jr., a physician and force in the African American community who died in 1965 Saturday, October 23, 2010 at The Salvation Army Northwest Community Center West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Health Walk sponsored by The City of West Palm Beach, Bank of America, Palm Beach County Health Department, GreenbergTraurig, 1st United Bank, and Wachovia/Wells Fargo provided health check-ups by the Palm Beach County Health Department, blood pressure checks provided by City of West Palm Beach, and food and entertainment sponsored by Florida Public Utilities and Payne Chapel AME Church.

Sponsored by the Pompano Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society focus is to raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, salute breast cancer survivors, encourage regular breast cancer screenings and teach women and men how to practice breast self-exams.
