32 Inducted into Roosevelt High School Maroon Devils Sports Hall of Fame

In this photo taken Saturday, February 19, 2011 Floyd Andrews, top, basketball coach is congratulated by Bradley Mitchell also inducted into the Roosevelt High School Sports Hall of Fame an all-black West Palm Beach high school that existed from 1950 through 1970. The inaugural class was inducted at the school's former gymnasium, which now resides at the Roosevelt Full Service Center.

Coach Andrews has the most wins of any Florida High School basketball coach with a win- loss record of 705 wins and 209 losses. His teams captured three state championships with seven final four appearances.

Willie Goldsmith, Sr. and others came together to establish the Roosevelt High School Sports Hall of Fame to recognize those that came along in an era that wasn't always fair, and tended to go unrecognized for their contributions.

I had the pleasure of playing against some of Coach Andrews’s championship teams, as well as refereeing some games with Bradley Mitchell.
